Help make a difference
Sudden Cardiac Death is the tragic and unexpected passing of an otherwise healthy person which can be due to an underlying genetic heart disease. Two to three young Australians under 35 die every week from sudden cardiac death.
The death of a young person is an unimaginable tragedy that leaves families grappling with profound grief and uncertainty. For weeks, months and years, they face a challenging journey, seeking answers as they navigate an unwelcome new reality.
Alongside groundbreaking research at the cellular level, Centenary facilitates genetic counselling and care, helping families understand their risk factors by funding genetic analysis, through the Genetic Heart Disease Clinic.
For many families, a crucial component of finding closure lies in understanding the cause of their loss. Unfortunately, they often find themselves without answers, robbed of the knowledge that could support their healing.
The Genetic Heart Disease Clinic currently has a 12 month waitlist for families to receive specialised genetic heart disease support.
It costs up to $15,000 for each family to be seen by the Genetic Heart Disease Clinic and comprehensively reviewed. We rely on our generous donors to support the families who need our help.
With increased funding we can lower the waiting time for these families and fund the vital research that will aim to provide them with the answers they desperately seek.
